Welcome to the application for Iowa’s first writing fellowship for bicultural Iowans! We're so glad you're applying, and we look forward to reading your submission.  The deadline for the application is November 20, 2017.
Before applying to this fellowship, please read our webpage detailing what this fellowship is, applicant eligibility, the description of the fellowship programs and key dates you'll need to be available.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us. We understand for many this may be a first time opportunity to take the next step in writing, and we want to make you as comfortable as possible with the process.

Instructions: Please fill out the form below as the main application. In addition, we ask that you email us the three items below (noted as I.-III.) to welcome@iowawritershouse.com. Note your name in the subject line and BIWF.

I. Writing sample—Please provide 1-2 samples of your writing (fiction, nonfiction, or poetry), with 5 pages minimum and 10 pages maximum per writing sample. These do not necessarily need to be completed pieces, and the work may be cross-genre. We are looking for an example of your style and the types of things you like to write about.

II.  Letter of recommendation—This letter can be from a community member, friend, or family member—someone who knows you. The letter should tell us who you are as a person and should speak of your heart, your dedication, and your desire to create. Please have this person email the letter of recommendation to welcome@iowawritershouse.com with the subject title being your name followed by the words "Letter of Recommendation." This should look like: "Name of Applicant - Letter of Recommendation."

III. Work experience (optional)—If you have a current résumé or CV that you would like to send us, please email it to welcome@iowawritershouse.com. If you do not have a résumé or CV, you may list your current employer and one previous employer. If you are currently unemployed or retired, please note that.
