COURSE DESCRIPTION
Memory and Imagination: how can one draw from experience while creating new stories? How can a new voice emerge from one’s archive? Can the writer’s imagination be entirely free from memory? How does one tap into this memory when creating new stories? In this workshop we will explore ways and means of retrieving from one’s own archive, from the visuals etched in the mind from way back, in order to create new stories.

At the end of the workshop participants will be expected to be able to navigate through the maze that memory is, sift through it and create new stories. Included in this workshop is ‘Writing from Third World Perspective’. In this segment, we will explore how writers in the so-called Third World find inspiration and that world to create the new world without totally alienating themselves from their environs.

This workshop was created for both fiction and non-fiction writers. It is perfect for beginning writers as well as those who are looking to advance their skill sets.
